Municipal Peer Learning on Sponge Cities
This pilot programme, developed for the Office for Waste, Water,
Energy and Air (AWEL) of the Canton of Zurich, explores how sponge
city principles can be translated into built reality. Through a
structured peer-learning process, it examines how municipalities
implement climate adaptation in streets, public spaces and
neighbourhoods.
The programme focuses on three case studies from Baden, Dietikon
and Schlieren in the Limmattal, the western part of the Zurich
metropolitan area. Together with an international Fachtribüne, the
three municipalities compare their sponge city projects, discuss
implementation challenges and exchange practical experience.
Practitioners, public authorities and international experts
identify transferable lessons for future climate adaptation
projects.
